In the heart of Al Qana, the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi stands as a beacon of education, conservation, and wonder. To enhance this world-class experience, ENO Digital Signage Manufacturer was commissioned to create a unique technological landmark: a seamless, four-sided LED pillar that serves as a dynamic focal point for thousands of daily explorers.
The challenge for the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi was to integrate digital technology into a physical space without breaking the “underwater” illusion. They needed a solution that was not only informative but also aesthetically breathtaking—a digital installation that could mirror the fluid beauty of marine life.
The solution provided by ENO was a masterclass in custom fabrication. We designed and manufactured a P2 Indoor LED Pillar, featuring four displays of 96cm in width by 192cm in height, perfectly joined at the corners to cover all four sides of a structural column. For a prestigious venue like the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi, the choice of a P2 pixel pitch was vital.
The P2 technology offers an incredibly fine resolution, allowing visitors to stand just inches away from the screen and still see crystal-clear imagery. Whether displaying high-definition maps of coral reefs, educational facts about shark conservation, or mesmerizing 3D-effect animations of schools of fish, the clarity provided by ENO’s panels ensures that the content is as engaging as the live exhibits themselves. The 360-degree nature of the pillar at the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi means that no matter where a visitor is standing in the hall, they are connected to the digital narrative.
One of the most complex aspects of the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi project was the corner alignment. Standard LED cabinets often show bulky seams at 90-degree angles. However, as a specialized manufacturer, ENO utilized custom-mitred edges to ensure that the transition between the four sides was as smooth as possible. This creates the effect of a continuous digital surface, allowing content to “wrap” around the column without interruption.
Operating in an environment like the National Aquarium Abu Dhabi also requires strict adherence to safety and environmental standards. Our P2 LED modules were built with high-efficiency components that minimize heat emission, ensuring that the ambient temperature of the aquarium remains stable and that the hardware operates safely in a high-traffic public space. The slim profile of our 96cm x 192cm panels allowed us to encase the pilar without obstructing the walkways, maintaining the fluid architectural flow of the building.
