The World Expo is a global stage where architecture, culture, and technology converge to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. The New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020, inspired by the Māori value of Kaitiakitanga (guardianship), presented a narrative of deep connection between people and the environment. To ensure this message reached every visitor navigating the busy Expo site, ENO Digital Signage Manufacturer was commissioned to engineer and install a series of high-performance outdoor digital displays that would serve as both beacons and educators.
The environment of the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 was one of intense activity and extreme environmental conditions. Any outdoor digital solution had to be robust enough to withstand the direct Arabian sun and high temperatures, while remaining aesthetically aligned with the pavilion’s sophisticated, organic design.
To meet these demands, ENO manufactured two custom P4 Outdoor Double-Sided LED Displays. Each unit features two 96cm x 192cm screens mounted back-to-back, providing a 360-degree visual experience. By deploying two of these units (totaling four high-resolution screens), the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 effectively maximized its digital footprint in the surrounding pedestrian areas.
The choice of P4 pixel pitch for an outdoor project of this scale was a strategic masterstroke. While outdoor screens often prioritize brightness over detail, our P4 technology at the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 ensured that even fine text—such as schedules for the Kapa Haka performances or educational facts about New Zealand’s biodiversity—remained perfectly legible from both short and medium distances. As the manufacturer, we utilized ultra-high-brightness LEDs (exceeding 6,000 nits), ensuring that the content remained vibrant and punchy even under the harsh midday sun at the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020.

Operating at the EXPO site meant dealing with heat, dust, and humidity. For the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020, ENO engineered these units with industrial-grade IP65-rated enclosures. This level of protection ensures that the internal components are completely sealed against the elements.
Key features of the installation at the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 included:
Advanced Thermal Management: We integrated a smart cooling system that regulates internal temperatures without the need for high-maintenance external fans, ensuring the displays at the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 remained operational 24/7.
Double-Sided Synchronization: Our specialized controllers allowed the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 to either mirror content on both sides of the unit or display different messages simultaneously, providing incredible flexibility for visitor flow management.
Automatic Brightness Adjustment: To be environmentally conscious—fitting the theme of the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020—the displays were equipped with light sensors that dimmed the screens at night, reducing power consumption while maintaining optimal visibility.
The two double-sided units acted as the digital “front door” for the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020. In a venue where visitors are constantly on the move, these 1.92-meter-tall monoliths were essential for:
Real-Time Wayfinding: Directing visitors to the pavilion’s immersive “Pulse” experience or the restaurant.
Cultural Engagement: Showcasing stunning high-definition videos of New Zealand’s landscapes and the people behind the pavilion’s story.
Crowd Management: Providing live updates on wait times and event schedules, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience for everyone visiting the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020.
The sleek, vertical design of our units matched the modern architectural lines of the pavilion, proving that industrial-grade outdoor technology can be as beautiful as it is functional.
Being a local manufacturer provided the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 with the logistical advantage they needed during the high-pressure setup phase of the Expo. Our ability to provide rapid on-site assembly, testing, and immediate technical support made us a preferred partner for international delegations.
Precision Alignment: We manufactured the internal frames to ensure that the 96cm x 192cm panels were perfectly flush, creating a monolithic look that stood up to the scrutiny of millions of visitors.
Local Reliability: With our factory and technicians based in the UAE, the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 had the security of knowing that expert help was always just minutes away.
The P4 Outdoor Double-Sided displays for the New Zealand Pavillion EXPO 2020 represent the perfect synergy of durability and digital art. They helped bridge the distance between the shores of Aotearoa and the sands of Dubai, providing a vibrant, reliable platform for international storytelling.
At ENO Digital Signage, we are honored to have been part of the historic EXPO 2020 journey. This project remains a benchmark for our outdoor display capabilities, showcasing how we can deliver world-class technology that thrives in the most challenging environments on earth.
